Therapy

Dyslexia therapy is best presented through multi-sensory instruction, meaning children will learn visually, auditorily, kinesthetically, and tactility. Using the Take Flight curriculum, written by the staff of the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children, students will build on instruction through Alphabetic Phonics, the Dyslexia Training Program, and TSRH Literacy Program.
Take Flight curriculum focuses on word recognition, reading fluency,
and reading comprehension.

-Dyslexia therapy is best suited for students over the age of 7

-Take Flight is designed to be taught for 60 minutes per day, 4 times per week, or for 45 minutes per day, 5 times per week

“Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurobiological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language that is often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and the provision of effective classroom instruction. Secondary consequences may include problems in reading comprehension and reduced reading experience that can impede growth of vocabulary and background knowledge.” International Dyslexia Association
